What is Scratchpad Creative's Method of Web Site Development?

Our web design and development process is designed to provide the best possible experience for you while delivering exactly what you need, on-time and on-budget.

Our rigorous process consists of the four steps to ensure you receive a web site that:

  • Fits your needs,
  • Builds brand recognition,
  • Educates and informs your audience about your business,
  • Drives leads to your online and offline store, and

The four steps of our web design process are:

  1. Business Analysis
    To begin the process, we start with a simple interview to find out about your business. Who are your customers and target audience? What is your goal for the web site? We also consider your competitors and what sets you apart. The more we can understand your vision, the better outcome your web site will be.

  2. Concept Development
    Our second step in the process is to take what we have learned about your business wants and needs and transform it into a visual layout and flow. You will receive as many visual mock ups and sample layouts as necessary in order to reach a design that is exactly what you envision. At this point, when we have a created a web site design and layout that you are completely satisfied with, you then sign off on the layout, design, and infrastructure used so we can begin the development step.

  3. Development
    This is the biggest part of the project. We take the concept development and turn it into a finished product. We build the separate pages of your site using your content such as copy and images which you supply, or you can arrange to have us create or fine-tune copy for you. We take your products and product content and place them into an online store. Your web site and your online store are then linked together and placed onto our QA testing server where you can test drive your new web site. Here we will fix any issues and tweak anything necessary so everything runs properly and meets your approval.

  4. Delivery
    At this point, you will have signed off on the development of your web site and we will upload it to your live server. From this point, your customers will be able to interact and use your newly created web site and online store after we have completed our final QA check to ensure everything is installed correctly and functioning as it should.

What Does Scratchpad Creative Deliver with any Web Sites They Provide?

Here is a break down of services and features you will receive when you partner with Scratchpad Creative Inc. to develop your e-commerce platform and web site solution.

  1. Consultation via Email, Phone, and/or In-Person Meetings
    This is where we find out your wants and needs. We can help guide you with smart and effective design, and web site structure and content. This is the first step in our web design process.

  2. We Will Setup Your Web Hosting, Email, and FTP Access
    If you have an existing web hosting provider, we will setup any new email addresses for your new or existing domain, as well as web site logging to allow you to track your web site and online store statistics. If you currently do not have a web hosting provider, we will source one for you and setup all necessary steps to ensure your web site is up and running efficiently.

  3. Registration of Domain Name of Choice
    We will purchase and register a single domain name of choice for your online store or web site for a single year duration.

  4. SSL Certificate Purchase and Installation
    We will purchase and install a SSL certificate for your online store for a one year duration if you opt to purchase any e-commerce package with Scratchpad. This allows for secure ordering online. Your customers will feel safe ordering from your store with a secure SSL certificate. Please note, a SSL certificate must be bound to a single IP Address and therefore, your hosting provider must provide an unused IP Address for the certificate to be installed.

  5. Online Store Configuration and Setup
    Setting up an online store can be a tedious task. We will save you hours (and in some cases days) of configuration and setup of your online store. Your customers will be able to easily place orders with the click of a button, and you will be able to track every portion of your sales, inventory, conversions, and perform your marketing, easily and online all at one location.

  6. Online Store Payment Processor Setup with Paypal
    In order to allow secure online payments, we will setup your store to use the Paypal Internet Payment processing company to handle your online payments. There are other custom processors that we can setup, however, additional fees will incur for additional payment processors.

  7. Custom Programming & Database Design
    When you partner with Scratchpad Creative Inc., you will have full access to our custom software solutions at discounted rates. Have a need for a custom widget on your web site? Want to have your sales and customer information transferred to another location for offline tracking and analysis? We can do all that and more.

  8. Content Management System Access (If Required)
    If you require access to a content management system (CMS), we can provide the knowledge and experience to have you up and running in no time. With a CMS, you can control what goes into your web site and update your information with no programming experience required. Some restrictions do apply based on needs and additional fees may apply.

  9. Custom Designed Web Site
    We work only with custom designed web sites. This allows us the ability to create exactly what you need from the ground up. With a custom designed web site, you don't have to worry about other web sites having the same template look as yours. You can stand out from your competitors.

  10. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
    All of our web sites come fully search engine optimized from the start. We will also register your web site with the major search engines available where they can trickle down to the smaller search engines. With our SEO, you will be able to get indexed faster and more efficiently than without SEO.

  11. Direct Link from Web Site to Online Store
    If you have an existing web site or we are building a custom designed web site for you, we will link your web site directly to your online store to allow for a more integrated experience between your web site and your online store.

  12. Sponsored Ad Setup and Monitoring for 30 Days after Web Site Delivery
    Having your online presence goes hand-in-hand with advertising. We will perform the initial setup of your web site and online store to the major online advertising companies of your choice. We will also perform monitoring of your online advertising account for a period of 30 days after delivery of your web site. You will be responsible for adding funds to your advertising account however. Additional lengths of monitoring can be arranged for additional fees.

  13. 30 Days of Web Site Maintenance after Delivery
    To ensure your online experience gains maximum potential, we will provide 30 days of site maintenance free of charge after the delivery of the web site. Have a change? Need another tweak? No problem. We will take care of your needs. Our service does not end when the site development ends.

  14. 4 Hours of Online Store Training
    We will provide up to four hours of training for your staff to use the online store and its features if you opt to purchase any e-commerce package with Scratchpad. We wouldn't want somebody to hand us the keys to something and have to figure it out for ourselves, nor would we want you to do this. We are available to answer your every question before your web site goes live, and after.
